Top 30 Mobile Websites

| | Comments (15)

Update: For the most current data (all of 2008), please see Top Mobile Websites for 2008.

Last September, I reported on the top 20 mobile websites that readers of my mobile website list (Cantoni.mobi) were clicking on. Since six months have gone by, I thought it was a perfect time for an update.

Today I present the “top 30” mobile websites as recorded on Cantoni.mobi. These results are captured by my MyBlogLog community widget which reports on not just page views, but links clicked exiting the site.

The same caveat applies: any mobile browser with Javascript either disabled or not present is not tracked. Regardless, the overall trend should still be accurate.

Over the last 6 months, we recorded a total of about 180,000 links that were followed (an average of about 1,000 per day). Here are the top 30 mobile websites, in order:

  1. YouTube
  2. Maxim
  3. CNN Mobile
  4. Google Maps
  5. American Express
  6. Wapedia (encyclopedia)
  7. PDA Animated Weather
  8. GameGeek
  9. Flickr Mobile
  10. Fandango
  11. Mobile Stream Center
  12. The Onion
  13. MySpace
  14. Mobile MapQuest
  15. AccuWeather
  16. Mobile speed test
  17. Mobile DrinkBoy
  18. Car and Driver

Love that Mobile Maxim Weather widget

Hello, You have a lot of good mobile sites listed on your site. My question is, can your site (this site) be accessed on a mobile PC? Thanks for your time. Whitney

Also, a good news website for your mobile is http://www.NewsPhone.com

How do you get the Top 30 mobile sites? Is it for US market only or for global? Is there anyway I can access the information on monthly basis?

Thanks in advance for sharing

@Nelly, the numbers are a tally of outgoing clicks from my mobile website list at http://cantoni.mobi. The majority of web sites on my list are US-centric, so I'd consider the results valid on for the US market.

Hi Brian,

I would like to submit Mobile Previews wap site to your list. Mobile Previews aggregates entertainment trailers and streams movie, dvd, tv and video game trailers to your mobile phone. VOD, no sub fees, easy and fast. Users can buy movie tickets, sign up for text alerts, share videos with friends and participate in movie polls.

You can see it on you mobile by going to mpviews.com or m.mobilepreviews.com or on your PC at www.mobilepreviews.com.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks.
