“Interop” has been the buzz phrase at work the past few months and tonight Yahoo! and Microsoft coordinated the launch of instant messaging interop between the two systems. This means you can stay on your Yahoo Messenger client and add MSN buddies directly (and vice versa).
It may not be as prevalent in the press release or news coverage, but the recent beta of the Yahoo! Messenger for Mac client also works with MSN buddies, so we open up another channel for Mac users.
