The New York Times recently released The New York Times Essential Library: Children’s Movies which lists their top 100 movies for kids. This is excellent timing as we’ve been trying to move beyond the animated Disney movies. I haven’t bought the book yet, but this is a good list for rentals at least.
Earlier this week, the Indiana Jones trilogy was finally released on DVD. We've been watching these with the kids which has been interesting to say the least. Now they refer to it as being made in the “olden days” — I guess that counts for 1981 for these guys. On the day it was released, the front page of the Mercury News had a picture and lead-in to their review of the DVD set which gave it 4 stars — “4 Disc Set a Must-Own”. I predict they're going to do quite well on this one.
StickyC points to a good Mojito recipe today. We just made some for the first time this weekend and they were quite good. I used a recipe from Elton Mohito. I believe the correct spelling of the drink is “Mojito”, which results in many more recipes from Google.
We’re getting all set for the Big Vacation of the summer. Starting next week, we’re off for: 4 days at Anaheim (Disneyland of course) 5 days in San Diego (Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Legoland) 2 days in Santa Barbara (parent recovery time) With some luck I’m going to try to post some pictures while we’re traveling for the folks back home. We’re already planning to bring the laptop so that the kids can watch DVDs on the drive down.
